MIST Curriculum
MIST courses are designed with three core principles: effective, sustainable, and plain language. U.S. doctrine does not directly translate to partner skills and capabilities; therefore, each MIST course is specifically designed for the foreign partner. The below courses represent a partial list of MIST's training catalog.
Formal training must be requested through each country's Office of Defense Cooperation.
What is the MIST Advantage?
MIFC
20wk (with 2 wk MTT) maritime Intel Course for U.S. foreign partners. Teaches foundational-level knowledge on MDA and maritime intelligence. Hybrid course design with part-time instruction via student's mobile device.
CAFP
1-wk fundamental cyber awareness and security course specifically designed for U.S. foreign partners and systems provided by the U.S. to the partner. CAFP is also offered through the MIST mobile training app.
MOCC
2-wk MOC organization and concepts course. Incorporates Maritime Intelligence Operations Center (MIOC) integration. Topics include commander's priorities, best practices, and watch center operations.
UASO
1-2-wk course in UAS familiarization training on platforms provided through U.S. security assistance cases. Training duration dependent on system complexity. UASO includes setup, operations, data processing/exploitation, and incorporation of data into operations centers.
MICC
2-wk course on the creation and sustainment of a foreign partner's maritime intelligence community. Special attention is given to partner manpower and training limitations to enable an effective and versatile maritime intelligence community. Course attendees should be senior officers.
MPDM
1-wk mid- to senior-level course on maritime domain decision-making skills. Modeled after U.S. planning doctrine, this course teaches a comprehensive process to enable commanders to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
OPSEC
Training on how to identify and control critical military information. Effective countermeasures are discussed to reduce the risk of an adversary exploiting vulnerabilities. This training is modeled after U.S. military OPSEC doctrine and procedures.
Human Rights
Mandatory human rights training is included in all U.S.-funded training. MIST's interactive training was developed with content from the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner. Continuous training is available through the MIST app.
Int'l Maritime Law
Training module designed to familiarize students with international maritime law. MIST's interactive training was developed with content from the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Annual refresher training is available through the MIST app.
